How to navigate in this event platform?

BEFORE YOU LOG ON

Access this platform via a Chrome Browser

  • To ensure you have a stable and seamless experience, we recommend opening the virtual venue on a Chrome Browser. 
     

  • You can download this via this link: https://www.google.com.au/chrome/

Enable pop ups

  • For this event, there will be a virtual photo-booth which will be a pop up. To ensure you can access it please enable pop ups in your browser.

Before you log on

  • Close all other programs and apps on your computer.  

  • Ensure your camera and mic access is on, to check please refer to this document. 

Log on

  • We recommend using your laptop or computer  to log on, rather than an iPad or phone. This will allow you to view the event correctly and to participate in the chat/ virtual networking function. 

  • Use the link that was shared in your email to log on. If you have not received the email, please contact the events team at truongj@unimelb.edu.au

Networking session will not work with an iPad/ phone. ​

NAVIGATING THE VIRTUAL LOBBY

UPDATING YOUR PROFILE

  • Click on the 'My Account' tab 

  • Click 'Edit' on the right hand side

  • From here you can update your profile picture, edit your name and position

  • You can also choose to not be 'VISIBLE' to others and hide your profile. If you do select 'No' you will not be seen and will not be able to make comments, or participate in networking. 

  • Remember to click 'Done' 

MEETING YOUR DONOR/ RECIPIENT

If you are scheduled to meet with your donor/ recipient, please navigate to the 'Donor and Recipient Meeting' under GALA 

  • Click on the 'Virtual Lobby' tab -  this is where the event takes place. 

  • From here, you can click to enter the room you are assigned to.

  • Once you enter a room, you will be notified to turn your camera/ mic on. Then press 'Join now'

  • From here you will be able to virtually see other people who are in the room. You can chat to your donor/ recipient from here.

  • Some general conversation start points has been shared in the chat function (to your right), to get you started!

AWARDS GALA - PROGRAM 

The gala contains three key activities within the program, below are some tips on how to navigate/ what to do: 

​7:00PM - Red Carpet

 

  • Join us on the red carpet and meet your host Professor Andrew Ooi and Professor Jamie Evans. 

  • Here you will be able to 'Raise your hand' top left corner, or chat to us on the top right corner of the screen to let us know that you want to show off your outfit. Andrew and Jamie will then invite you to show your camera live and will interview you on the red carpet. You might even win the best dressed prize ($50 Uber Eats Voucher). 

  • For those who do not want to turn their camera on, that's ok too as you'll be able to simply chat in the group chat and watch the action on screen. 

​7:30PM - Awards Ceremony

 

  • Head over to the Awards Ceremony stage, and watch as we announce and congratulate our recipients. 

  • Here you can chat to fellow students and colleagues. 

8:30PM - Celebrate in the DJ Room 

  • Once the ceremony is over, you can head over ot the DJ room to listen to funky beats, whilst chatting to people. You can also choose to navigate out of this room to the Virtual Lobby to find people to chat/ meet with. You can create small group rooms for virtual catch ups. Instructions below. 

Photo booth

  • You can enter the virtual photo booth by either clicking on the photo booth room or tab in the event lobby. This will open up in a new page, and your photo will be automatically uploaded into a large photo booth mosaic with other attendee's photos. You can view the mosaic at any time by clicking on the tab in the event lobby.

What to do after the ceremony

  • You can choose to connect with other colleagues by finding them in the 'Netowrking' area on the bottom right. 

  • Search their name, click and select to meet or chat. If you select 'public' other students/colleagues can see your group and choose to hop into your room to speak also.

*Please note, this function is only compatible with laptops, no tables or phones. 

Look out for notifications

  • There may be times throughout the day where the event team will send you venue notificationa. This will have a ping sound  and will pop up on your top right hand corner. This will help remind you of where you need to go, or whether a session is about to start. 

  • Once you enter a room, you will be notified whether the session started or not. 

  • You can see a small red 'LIVE' icon beside the session(s) that has started.
